The Axe Grinder is a music blog about rock and other forms of guitar-driven music. It is devoted to news and trends in the music world, as well as reviews of albums, new equipment, and other music-related items. It is created and run independently by Matt Dolloff, a guitarist and senior journalism student at Northeastern. Matt has been playing guitar since the age of eight, and has acquired a tremendous amount of skill and expertise at the instrument. He cites his major influences on his playing style as Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Eddie Van Halen, John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, Kirk Hammet of Metallica, and Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine. He is one of the guitarists and principal songwriters of a rock band based in Boston that is just starting out and seeking studio time to create their first EP.
